Tutoring Services

I offer a range of tuition services that can be adapted to individual students' needs, and which cater to diverse learning styles. During an initial assessment, we will determine which areas of study are most in need of support, and what the key objectives of our work will be. I will then develop a schedule with a clear plan for how we will work toward those goals, and how our sessions will complement existing coursework. I encourage students to bring any assignments they find particularly daunting to our tutoring sessions.

Study Skills and Learning Support during COVID:

I specialise in English literature, and am experienced in helping students  learn to read critically and write with confidence. I offer English tuition for all ages, with particular expertise in the skills necessary for students to succeed in National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher English. This includes:

  • Critical and close reading

  • Textual analysis

  • Essay structure and expression

  • Grammar and punctuation

  • Revision techniques

  • Exam strategies

  • Verbal assessment

I offer maths tuition designed to help students build confidence and consolidate their learning. These sessions work to establish a solid groundwork and fluency in maths skills from P3 up to National 5 level, ranging from basic numeracy to flexible approaches to complex, advanced problems. This includes:

  • Numeracy and maths skills for young learners

  • Fractions, decimals, and percentages

  • Algebraic functions 

  • Graphing linear equations

  • Trigonometry

  • Indices and Surds

  • Quadratic functions

  • Exam revision

 

My teaching is designed to enhance and expand upon student's coursework and exam preparation, and especially in the pandemic environment of hybrid- and remote-learning, some students require additional support. I offer study support that helps students attain and retain greater depth from their course material, develops their autonomous study habits, challenges them to think creatively and critically, and offers some of the one-to-one assistance they would usually receive in a classroom. 

During the initial 30-minute assessment (offered free of charge), I would be happy to discuss any additional subject areas not mentioned above that may require attention, as we determine how best to support the student's learning. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Tuition Highers and beyond: £35 (hour) / £45 (90 minutes)
